U.S. Futures
U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were down 0.2% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average decreased 0.4%. However, it’s important to note that changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.
European Markets
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 dropped 0.1% in morning trading. Notably, argenx rose 4.6% and MorphoSys added 3.7%. Unfortunately, Prosus sunk 14.2%, and adidas lost 6.3%. The FTSE 100 also experienced a decline of 0.2%. Meanwhile, other stocks in Europe had mixed performances with France’s CAC 40 remaining flat and Germany’s DAX falling 0.1%.
Currency Update
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index climbed 0.1% to 96.32.
Commodity Prices
In commodities, Brent crude gained 0.9% to $79.84 a barrel, and WTI crude rose 1% to $74.64 a barrel.
Bond Market
The German 10-year Bund yield climbed by 3 basis points to 1.989% from 1.963%, while the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury held steady at 3.886%. It’s worth noting that bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Asian Markets
Stocks in Asia had a mixed performance with Japan’s Nikkei 225 index gaining 0.1%, but Hong Kong’s Hang Seng declining by 1.7%. Similarly, China’s benchmark Shanghai Composite declined by 0.1%.
