Marston’s, the pub-operator chain, has announced that Andrew Andrea will be stepping down as chief executive officer with immediate effect. Justin Platt has been named as his successor, effective from January 10th.
Andrea, who has been with the group for over 20 years, will continue to be available to the business during a transition period to ensure a smooth handover of responsibilities. William Rucker, the company’s chair, will also be providing support during this interim period.
Platt brings with him over 30 years of experience in the hospitality and consumer-facing industries. For the past 12 years, he has been a part of Merlin Entertainments, where he most recently held the position of chief strategy officer. Throughout his career, Platt has held various operational leadership roles.
Rucker expressed his confidence in Platt’s abilities, stating that his expertise in the consumer sector, strategic acumen, and focus on customer experience from his time at Merlin will greatly benefit Marston’s during this stage of its journey.
Despite these changes in leadership, Marston’s has reassured investors that its current performance remains in line with management’s expectations.
